Hello my name is Hugo Montoya (Sept 16th)

Hey everyone! So these last couple of weeks have been great. This last sunday we had stake conferance and we had Elder Montoya of the 70 come and talk to us about, well a lot really. He talked about ministering, missionary work, family study of the scriptures. I learned a lot from him.

We also had a zone conferance where we talked about the importance of the sacrament. The words that stuck out to me the most are "one by one" the scriptures use the phrase a few times. One by one is the way the savior ministers. I love the song "one by one" by Paul Cardaul and David A. Bednar (yes the apostle). If you haven't heard this song, go look it up.

I've loved my mission, I've felt a solid change in who I am and I love seeing who I was to where I am now. I cant wait to keep going and see where I end up by the end of my mission.

Keep havin' fun y'all. Say your prayers, read your scriptures, and prepare for the sacrament this week.

Tropical Storm Imelda

We got smacked with a surprise this last week. Tropical storm Imelda came and left us with a little over 40 inches of water. It is calculated to be the 7th largest rain fall recorded in U.S. to put that in perspective Hurricane is the number 1 largest rainfall recorded. So within 3 years this mission has been hit with the 1st and the 7th largest rainfalls in history!  It all happened overnight to so there wasn't much time to prepare.

This last little bit has gone real well for us on the mission, but it's all been put on hold to help those who have lost their homes. We're currently in Vidor TX at president Ross's and it's going to be such a blast.

I've done a lot mucking (removing drenched parts if the home). It really has been a ton of fun and I think the pictures will tell it best. I love you guys. Be humble and serve others. It dosent need to take a natural disaster for you to minister to others. Keep having fun and I'll talk to you next week.

Being Dad

So I don't recall exactly what I wrote home last week so here's the update. I'm currently training a new missionary, Elder Maires, he's such a stud! He's from Draper Utah and is so much fun to serve with and teach him how to be a missionary. For those who don't know missionary lingo we call trainers dads and trainee's sons. My favorite question Elder Maires asked me was "how do I spell Grammar?" I feel like that's totally something I would say. Other news, the Elders in my district got swapped with sister missionary. which is great! The problem is we can't get rides from them so we've had some extra biking to do. Yesterday we had to ride to the church at 7 in the morning to get there for district counsel and I was so tired.

This last week we've had so many miracles. my favorite story from this last week was we were teaching the member who hasn't been coming to church for a while, and I felt the spirit so strongly but I didn't know what to say. So I asked in a quite prayer, "what is it that you want me to say, I feel you're spirit, what do you what?" My answer was simple and immediate. I felt the spirit say "testify that you felt me." So I did just that. I felt the spirit stronger and I new I needed to do that, it was so crazy! What made that so good was that wasn't the only spiritual prompting I've had this week, and feeling the spirit guide is so great! I've felt so stressed this last week just trying to figure everything out, it feels great when that stress humbles you and lets you know that God has always been there, leading and guiding.

I'm so excited for this next transfer and I cant what to share some of the amazing stories that are bound come.
