I'm Still Allive

This last bit has been a marvelous trip. I've been able to learn so much from studying the Gospel and learning how to apply it.

The last couple of days have been rain, rain, sunshine, rain... So lots of mud. A while ago we went to the temple with a recent convert and I ran into some of my favorite members, the Caples, at the temple. Sometime after that we had interviews with President Hewlett and we stopped by Mod pizza with the district. All-in-all I've been having some of the greatest moments of my mission, I love the people around me and I love how much this part of my mission has allowed me to grow.

I've been very impressed with exaltation lately. While on exchanges with my zone leader Elder Buttterfield (Typo intended) we ran into a Gentleman who refused to listen to us simply because of our belief in Exaltation and other wonderful doctrines. It made me ponder how something so great was the reason someone refused to listen. I've started to look into why this might be the case and what I can learn about to help strengthen my own testimony of it. As my soul searched, these are the topics that have satisfied me. ¹the Great Apostacy and ²the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

1.  Many great and wonderful truths were lost during the Great Apostacy and fortunately they were recovered in the Restoration. I belive one of the greatest lies Satan has conjured is that the restoration of Truths are new, as though Joseph Smith while restoring the church, came up with them as though they weren't there in the first place. But just as prophets of old, God revealed to Joseph Smith what is, and always will be.

2. The Atonement. The very sacrifice of the Son of God that makes it all possible. In order to be exalted we have to be cleansed and sanctified, follow the covenant path and Endure. But without the Atonement for our sins it would be completely pointless to embark on such an endeavor. We could not be clean from our sins without it. We could not move forward without the path being carved by the Savior. And we could not receive strength in the moments we need most.

How much more gratitude I have for the Savior and His prophet, who have enabled me to learn and to act. I love this work, and hope you guys have a great week
